Staying Confident During Exercise Routines: Eating right, drinking lots of water and exercising are a few of the tools I use in my battle to lose weight. Focusing on the eating right and the water has been the easiest part so far, but I still have a long way to go. I struggle daily trying to stay confident during exercise routines.
Confession…I suffer from exercise induced light bladder leakage. There I said it! I am an overweight, 40 something women who pees her pants. Not the greatest of confidence boosters. Climbing, running (that doesn’t happen often), and jumping are a few of the things that cause me distress. It’s nothing major, just a drip or two, but it is uncomfortable and awkward. For the longest time, I just ignored it, trying to cover it up with period pads, frequent showers and lots of laundry. No more ignorance, it’s time to take charge and shape up the whole body.
Ironically, what I need to do to help strengthen my pelvic muscles in an effort to combat the light bladder leakage is exercise. I told you it was ironic. Sounds like a vicious circle to me. A circle that I want to end. So, off to the gym I go. I love when I get to the gym and I have the whole place to myself. The treadmills with a view are definitely a mood enhancer. Here a few tips I’ve come up with to establish an exercise routine I can tackle with confidence. I am not a doctor, so be sure to always check with your health care provider, before starting any kind of exercise routine.
Ideas for staying confident during exercise routines:
- Remember to start slow and gradually increase the duration and intensity of excercise routines.
- Limit the amount of jumping and bouncing excercises you engage in.
- Try a few new low impact exercises such as yoga, stretch bands, walking or swimming.
- Choose the excercise machines you use wisely. Walking on treadmills, using a rowing machine and recumbent bikes are great choices.
- Try Poise Microliners with Super Absorbent Material (SAM) that provides discreet protection so LBL doesn’t interfere with exercise. #SAMinYourPants
- You must, you must, do your Kegel Exercises!! Strengthening your pelvic muscles is a necessity you don’t want to avoid! Do them anytime, anywhere, no one will ever know!
Each day I am getting a bit stronger and a bit more confident during exercise routines. Each small step is getting me closer to feeling better and obtaining my weight loss goal. Thankfully, using a Poise Microliner for LBL gives me one less thing to worry about.

Do you have any tips on staying confident during exercise routines?

I think LBL is a topic we need to talk about more. Congrats for being so brave and discussing it. Poise Microliners seem effective for this issue.
Good luck on your weight-loss journey. Sounds like you are doing all of the right things, including dealing with the issues you’re having along the way.
I really wish I had paid more attention to Kegels when I was younger. Who would have known it would make such a difference?
I am going to have to tell my zumba friends about this. There is usually a collective sigh when songs with jumps come on.
I happen to have one of these in my purse right now! They work well considering how thin they are.
I like to workout from home! LOL That way I can only embarrass myself in front of the dogs.
The dogs tend to join in and think it is a party whenever I decide to exercise inside. I generally have to stop what I am doing and “dance” with them. But most of the time exercise involves taking them on a walk and they are unforgiving “personal trainers” they want to go no matter the weather.
Great tips for staying confident while exercising! I’ll have to give Poise a try!
Tips for staying confident? Just the attitude “screw whatever other people think”!
I didn’t have this issue until after my 2nd baby and then it increased after I had an ectopic pregnancy - so annoying! But now I know how I can handle with with Poise! (like how I worked that into my sentence!? LOL)
I use this brand. Ever since giving birth to my son, my body hasn’t been the same. These come in handy.
I need to get these, my bladder is not the same after having 5 babies!
It’s always hard for me… Drink and leak or don’t drink and feel like I’m dehydrating like a raisin!!!
I think LBL needs to be discussed more openly. Most women experience it, and yet its like a dirty little secret. It doesn’t need to be!
I had LBL after having my kids. These would have totally been a lifesaver for me back then.
I don’t exercise that way. I did pick up some of these recently and was pleasantly surprised at how thin they are, like a sheet of paper!
I never thought of using those during workouts… I will admit that sometimes I have been a bit worried and this would help
Great tips!! I wish you the best of luck in your journey! Poise rocks for moms like me!!
These sound like a great idea. I will take a look for them at the store.
If that’s one thing you don’t have to think about when exercising, it’s a darn good thing!
Glad you found something to help!
I’ve never used a liner while working out - seems like it would get hot! nice that these are so thin!!
So many women experience LBL, especially after having kids. It’s nice to know there’s a product that helps keep the active lifestyle and doesn’t prevent from the goals!
I love that it makes it easier to be confident. I have issues when my asthma kicks up.
I use Poise everyday for my a bit more than LBL. It doesn’t feel like you are wearing anything but it provides protection. I love them!
Isn’t it crazy that you need to do something that causes a certain something in order to make that certain something better? That probably didn’t make sense. lol Just know you are NOT alone!
