Do you have kids involved in outdoor activities? Our kids spend a lot of time outside. Making sure they have time to run, play and just be kids is very important to our family. Getting up and moving is so important. Movement helps kids grow, learn and especially can help prevent childhood obesity. Since we spend so much time outdoors, there are lots of things a parent has to keep on top of to make sure their kids stay safe and healthy.

One drawback to spending so much time outdoors is that it can put you at higher risk for skin cancer. There are not too many things in this world, that I can say I hate, but Cancer is definitely one of them. Cancer is an ugly horrible disease,  that has invaded my family and friends, causing heartache and misery. I pray we find a way to someday destroy it for good.

Sun is the #1 cause of  Skin Cancer. I am a faithful sunscreen user and always remind others to use it, too. I bring multiple bottles to outdoor events and share with everyone we meet. I also like to share with others the benefits of using sun protection, all year round not just during the hot summer months. People probably think I am crazy and I am crazy about making sure people protect their skin from sun damage. I want everyone to know that sunscreen is not just for summer!

Anytime you spend time outdoors you should protect your skin with an SPF 15 or higher. If you are gardening, walking, playing with your kids, attending sporting events, spending anytime outdoors,  no matter what time of year or what time of day, put on the sunscreen.  It’s important to find a sunscreen that works for your active lifestyle and use it all year round.

Banana Boat® Sport Performance® Clear UltraMist® Sunscreen with Powerstay TechnologyTM, which was specifically designed for the sport enthusiast and active individual who does not want to be slowed down while out in the sun. Powerstay TechnologyTM is the brand’s latest innovation, which helps sunscreen stay on strong throughout all outdoor activities. This new formula has been designed to provide better application aesthetics, including a light-weight feel compared to the original formula, as consumers continue to seek products that feel good on their skin. Banana Boat® Sport Performance® Clear UltraMist® Sunscreen with Powerstay TechnologyTM is available in SPF 15, 30, 50+ and 100.

Be sure to apply sunscreen liberally and evenly to all exposed skin. On average an adult in a bathing suit should use approximately one ounce of sunscreen per application. Not using enough will effectively reduce the product’s SPF and the protection you get.
It’s easy to miss spots you can’t see. Don’t forget to protect your lips, ears, around eyes, neck, scalp if hair is thinning, hands, and the tops and bottoms of your feet. It’s important to reapply sunscreen at least every 2 hours, more often if you are exercising, swimming, sweating, or have wiped your skin with  a towel. If you and the kids are active, reapply often!

Now some summer fun for you and your family!
