How To Save Money On Home DecorLiving a frugal lifestyle may frighten some people, because they fear the can’t have fun or nice things. Everything from furniture to art work and accent pieces can all be found on a frugal budget.

HOW TO SAVE MONEY ON HOME DECOR

Repurpose old items. This is possibly the most popular way to save money on home décor. One persons junk is another persons treasure, and that can apply to your own junk. Move items from other parts of your home, spruce them up with paint or a new stain and revamp them for a new purpose. Dressers and vanities aren’t just for the bedroom. Move them to the living room with a fresh coat of paint to use as storage for DVD’s, CD’s or more!

Shop thrift shops, yards sales and flea markets. One of the best parts of saving money at yard sales are the deals on things like furniture, home décor and various artwork you can repurpose to spruce up your home. Set a budget for yourself then go in search of those one or two pieces you know will fit perfectly into your home. Watch for furniture in good condition, or that can be updated on a thrifty budget. Other great deals are mirrors, unique art work and sculptures, or even simple things like candle sticks.

Add brightly colored paint. One of the quickest ways to update your home while saving money on home décor is to use a bright color of paint. In recent years the trend of painting one wall a bright color has really taken off. Accent walls, trims or whole rooms updated with a fresh coat of paint are all great ways to update your look on a small budget.

Make your own. For those who are great with crafts, this is the first option. Making your own special upgraded home décor items can be a ton of fun and super frugal. Updating things like lamp shades and furniture to reflect a new look and theme can be easy. Things like canvas prints, special shadow boxes and other fun crafts made from ideas found on Pinterest can be a great option as well.

If you are looking for ways to save on home décor, look no further than your imagination. Using other peoples junk to create your treasure is likely the most common method. Outside that, little accents here and there of homemade items or brightly painted objects will make your home beautiful while being budget friendly.

These sound like great ideas. I haven’t been redecorating, I’ve been concentrating on decluttering first. I find it hard to let go of just about anything! I hope to make some nice pillows, and see what finds I can get for storage, etc.

I love saving money on home decor by looking at thrift shops, yards sales and flea markets! I have found some pretty amazing things, and some of the items just needed a little updating and paint, and they looked new again!

I’d say that one thing to remember is that less is more. Think about lovely hotels or beautiful homes. Instead of a lot of little stuff, they usually have a statement piece, and that’s something any of us can do with paper mache, some paint, and imagination. I’ve been decluttering my house, getting rid of things that don’t bring joy into my life, and that is really helping me know what I like, and what feels good. I didn’t realize how many things I owned that I really didn’t care about.

I love your blog. Very easy to use, lots of creative and fun things, and it is very practical! Do you take requests? I’d like to know how to unify the look of house plant pots. I have a bunch of house plants. To get even plastic pots for all of them to sit in would cost over a hundred bucks. I thought about using fabric, but that won’t work because it will wick up any excess water and soon be filthy. Thanks again for all your work!
